Rituals

A film about rituals inspired by James Turrell

This is a film about my lighting research project that explores the topic of rituals, contemplation, and energy, inspired by James Turrell, created during my Illumination class. As a part of the class, we learned how to control and manipulate light in a meaningful way using natural and artificial environmental lighting. We created several light-based installations using mixed media. Some of the other installations I made in the class explored natural phenomena like shadow and eclipse (see photos below).

Light as a material. Playing with a natural light source to manipulate shadows and reflections.
Light as an eclipse. Recreation of a natural phenomenon with artificial light.

Build Process.

I used creative prototyping, environmental design, physical computing, and filmmaking to create these multi-media-based installations.
