being

Berlin based multi-disciplinary studio exploring the future of Home.

During this three-month study away experience in Berlin, we explored Bauhaus principles and methodologies on a multi-disciplinary team. We analyzed sites of the original Bauhaus schools in Weimar and Dessau while being based in Berlin to understand its rich history, tenants, and guiding principles that made it so impactful. Our team developed ideas toward creating a future Heimat (home), which refers to a place towards which one has a strong feeling of belonging and fondness. Our work culminated in a thesis titled 'Being,' a movement that provides sensory experiences to increase awareness about the importance of 'home' for mental wellbeing and tools to encourage visiting 'home' regularly.

We proposed a solution (being) within an awareness campaign model that corresponded to the awareness and social support phase of the mental treatment health model, informing, educating, and activating individuals on the importance of mental health.

Business Model

'Being' is an incubator within TK, Germany's largest health insurance provider, with the primary goal to further TK’s brand awareness in their support of mental health and its importance.
